In remote corners of Kenya and Tanzania, the mere access to a tap can unfold a chapter of health and learning for schools. This project, initially spearheaded by So They Can, provides clean water and santation education where it is needed most. The introduction of hand-washing stations and basic sanitation training significantly reduces sickness and enhances school attendance.
Children learning the simple yet transformative habit of hand-washing may seem small, but this change can make all the difference in areas where disease is rife. These children, once recipients of knowledge, turn into ambassadors of hygiene within their families. This grassroots movement of health education is vital, as it can be years before such communities gain access to clean water and sanitation outside of the educational facility.
The project's expansion into multiple local government schools is a testament to its success, reaching out to thousands and sewing the seeds of health and education. Every drop of support contributes to a larger ocean of change, empowering children and communities in Kenya and Tanzania to lead healthier, brighter lives.
Use our editor to write a message for your loved one.
We’ll print your message on the inside of the greetings card so your gift is ready to be given.
Then we’ll call up our favourite postie to hand deliver your impact to your loved one.
Our model’s a little different - we work with impact partners on the ground to keep things transparent and effective. These partners are local community organisations and small charities who can get your impact action done in the most efficient way. And rest easy knowing these partners are thoroughly vetted each year to make sure your impact is truly making a difference.
Now for the best part: seeing your impact in action! About 6-12 months after you send your impact, we’ll pop you (and your recipient if you’ve given us their email) an update. This could include text, images, and videos showing how your thoughtful impact has helped transform lives. Who knew giving could feel so good?
